Irving Herr was born Jan. 17, 1877 in Indianapolis, Ind. He received his master's degree in Mining Engineering from Harvard
in 1901. On Feb. 10, 1904 he married Luella P. Winship of Mass. Irving worked at a silver mine in El Mineral del Cubo, Guarnajuato,
Mexico from 1902-1914 with some time in 1905-1906 spent in Stent, Calif. and Honduras. Herr and his family had to escape Mexico
in 1914 when President Wilson sent troops to Vera Cruz, but returned to the mine in 1920 and stayed until 1932. Herr then
joined his eldest son John Winship Herr in establishing the Cincinnati Steel Products Co. and acted as treasurer until his
retirement around 1947. Irving and Luella Herr also had at least two other sons: Robert, born 1906 and Richard, born 1922.
Irving Herr died on June 28, 1959 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
